Create with Connie & Mary #216

Can you believe it? I have time to go searching for an online card challenge, and then the time to even complete the challenge? I know, now that it's done, I want to find another.....

But wait, back to reality, right now my three kids are all taking a nap, but the minute I try to do something extra, it will send a signal to one of them to wake up. Then it's just like a snowball - the first one can't keep quiet enough to let the others sleep and, within 30 minutes, they are all up wanting to "craft" with Mommy!

If ever there was anything to be thankful for today, it's these minutes (40 so far, and counting) of precious silence. Nothing but the sound of my keyboard clicking away....

Today I found a colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary, and the colours in the challenge today are Rich Razzelberry, Night of Navy and Lucky Limeade. What a delicious combination!

I paired up the colour challenge with the Lacy & Lovely stamp set, an Antique Brad and a message from Tiny Tags. I did use some Dazzling Details in the outer ring of the Night of Navy Lacy stamp, it bled a little, but I think it's OK, it's just a lighter shade. It also adds some texture and some sparkle.

The inside echoes the front, a flag / pennant in the same colours as the front, and then some randomly stamped Lacy & Lovely images.

Stamp Sets: Lacy & Lovely, Tiny Tags
Cardstock: Rich Razzelberry, Night of Navy, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Ink: Rich Razzelberry, Night of Navy, Lucky Limeade
DSP: Floral District
Punches: 2 & 1/2 " circle, 1 & 3/8" circle, 3/4" circle, 1 & 1/4" square (for perfectly even tails on my flags), Jewellery Tag Punch
Other: Antique Brad, Dazzling Details, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

On another note, I still have a couple of spaces left in my Stamp-A-Stamp workshop on September 11 at 7pm. We will make 10 cards (5 each of 2 designs) in this class. It's at my place in Barrhaven in Ottawa.  Email me to register biancacoldrey@gmail.com

Enjoy!

Baby Shower Favour

It's my very good friend, Kim's, baby shower today and I have been working crazily to get 16 of these boxes, as well as the cookies inside, made. I wasn't really sure what to do when she asked me but then I was looking around and came across a project similar to this using the Sale A Bration DSP, and it was gorgeous. I wanted to use my (retired) Nursery Suite DSP, as well as embellishments and stamps I had on hand. There are lots of "baby" themed squares - the alphabet, the word baby and the bib. There are some feminine touches too, seeing as it's a shower and the boxes are gifts for women. There's a heart, a butterfly and some ribbon.
The colours are Baja Breeze, Pear Pizazz, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White - I love these colours for a baby boy.

Here are my staming supplies - square #1 being the alphabet square, and square #9 being the tiny tags square:

I used my 1-1/4" square punch, but then I cut the second layer squares to 1-1/8" square. For a small scale project I found the 1/4" border the 1" square punch created to be too big.

#1 - Chocolate Chip Base, Crumb Cake DSP, Cute By The Inch stamp set (retired hostess), Chocolate Chip Ink
#2 - Pear Pizzazz Base, In-Colour DSP stack (retired hostess), Baja Breeze cardstock and Small Heart Punch, Basic Pearl
#3 - Chocolate Chip Base, Elegant Soiree DSP (retired), In-Colour Brad, Pear Pizzazz SAB Ribbon
#4 - Baja Breeze Base, Whisper White second layer, Pennant Parade stamp set (sentiment), Pool Party Bakers Twine
#5 - Chocolate Chip Base, Whisper White second layer, Cute By The Inch stamp set (retired hostess)
#6 - Baja Breeze Base, Nursery Suite DSP (retired), Pear Pizzazz Cardstock (for leaf), Bird Punch (for leaf), Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die (use tiniest butterfly)
#7 - Pear Pizzazz Base, In-Colour DSP stack (retired hostess), Pear Pizzazz circle, Baby Bundle stamp set, Chocolate Chip Ink, 1" Circle Punch
#8 - Baja Breeze Cardstock, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Basic Pearl
#9 - Pear Pizzazz Base, Nursery Suite DSP (retired), Tiny Tags stamp set, Pear Pizzazz Ink, Baja Breeze Cardstock, Jewellery Tag Punch, Silver Brad

Other tools: Snail Adhesive, Sticky Strip, Stampin Dimensionals, Paper Piercer

Enjoy!

Pennant Parade Be Mine

It's Valentine's Day tomorrow! Fingers crossed the roses have been ordered, the chocolates are wrapped and dinner will be delivered. These days, with three kids under 3, we don't eat out as much as we'd like to. We never really ate out on Valentine's Day either.
Being in the industry, I know what a crazy mess dining out on Valentine's Day is. Only tables of 2, two or three different seatings mean you have to get in, eat the set menu and get out before the next round of diners files in. It's not particularly romantic to eat out on Valentine's Day.
My husband and I much prefer to go out for a long brunch the first Sunday following the day of romance. It's less rushed, we eat slowly, read the newspaper, drink lots of coffee and we love brunch. You can eat anything and get away with it - eggs & bacon, roast beef and potaotes, desserts - you name it, it's all up for grabs.

My last card celerating Love for this year uses Pennant Parade and the new stamp set from SAB - Outlined Occasions. Although any stamp with a small greeting/sentiment would work well here.
I hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow, and if you aren't with the one you love, at least treat yourself well - buy some flowers, head to the spa, buy some nice bubbly wine on the way home and then order in your favourite dinner.

Stamp Sets: Outlined Occasions (SAB), Tiny Tags, Pennant Parade
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, StazOn Jet Black
Punches: Petite Pennants Builder Punch, 1/2" Cirlce, 3/4" Circle, Small Heart Punch
Other: 5/8" Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Snail Adhesive, Stampin Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots (to hold ribbon/bow in place).

Enjoy!
